TIRANA, August 3 – Prime Minister Edi Rama shared footage on social media today showing the first Albanian-made military vehicles undergoing road tests after their delivery to the Albanian Armed Forces.
Rama described the vehicles as a source of national pride. He said the vehicles meet North Atlantic Treaty Organization standards. He also said Timak Defence will supply all vehicle requirements of the Albanian Armed Forces within the next 30 months. According to Rama, the company has already signed export agreements with 30 countries.
Meanwhile, Rama recalled yesterday’s ceremony marking the delivery of the first 40 tactical vehicles produced in Albania. He said the new logistics base will operate as an army company that also supports local government.
In addition, the prime minister said Timak Defence has received orders from about 30 countries. He noted that the clients include member states of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, the United Nations, and the World Bank.
Rama said it is encouraging that North Atlantic Treaty Organization countries, the United Nations, and the World Bank now seek vehicles manufactured in Albania. He added that the production site stands where the former Auto Tractor Factory once operated. According to the prime minister, this demonstrates Albania’s growing role in the defence industry.
