Firefighters continue efforts to fully extinguish Vilz village blaze in Shkodër Municipality

TIRANA, August 3 – Emergency teams continue operations to extinguish a fire that broke out yesterday afternoon in Vilz village, in the Postriba administrative unit of Shkodër.

The Shkodër Prefecture and the National Civil Protection Agency are coordinating the response. Local civil protection forces and the Shkodër Fire and Rescue Service are supporting the operation. The Albanian Air Force carried out an aerial intervention yesterday afternoon. The operation reduced the fire intensity and removed the risk to nearby homes.

Meanwhile, Fire and Rescue teams, forest operational units, Shkodër Municipality civil protection structures and 30 Armed Forces personnel remain deployed on the ground. Regional Civil Protection Agency Director for Northern Albania Shkëlzen Çuni is coordinating the field operation. Local authorities and volunteers from Postriba continue supporting emergency teams until the fire is fully extinguished.

The Shkodër Prefecture thanked central and local institutions, volunteers and residents for their cooperation and solidarity in protecting lives, property and natural resources.
