TIRANA, August 4 – Albania’s 2026 National Agricultural Support Scheme has expanded its beneficiary base and drawn significantly more applications after lowering minimum funding thresholds and easing eligibility requirements.
Ardita Kuçi, Director General of the Agency for Agricultural and Rural Development (AZHBR), said the revised scheme has encouraged broader participation and boosted applications across several key support measures.
Applications for registered cattle breeding increased from 4,425 in 2025 to 6,732 in 2026. The scheme received 2,307 more applications, marking a 52.1% rise. Registered sheep and goat breeding also recorded strong growth, with applications climbing from 5,670 to 7,236, an increase of 1,566 or 27.6%.
Meanwhile, beekeeping posted the strongest growth. Applications rose from 4,510 in 2025 to 7,016 in 2026. The increase of 2,506 applications represents a 62.3% jump.
Kuçi said the figures highlight growing farmer interest in government support. She added that simpler application rules and wider eligibility have made the 2026 National Support Scheme more accessible to agricultural producers across the country.
