President Begaj receives Paraguay’s ambassador, seeks stronger bilateral ties

TIRANA, August 5 – President Bajram Begaj received the credentials of Paraguay’s non-resident Ambassador to Albania, María José Argaña de Mateu, during an official ceremony in Tirana.

Meanwhile, Begaj praised the friendly relations between Albania and Paraguay. He also expressed his commitment to giving new momentum to bilateral cooperation.

In addition, the president said the two countries have concrete opportunities to expand cooperation in energy, agriculture, livestock farming and culture. He also encouraged closer political dialogue and more official exchanges at different levels.

Later, Begaj discussed developments in the Western Balkans. He expressed hope that Paraguay would reconsider its position on recognising Kosova. He suggested that Paraguay could begin by supporting Kosova’s membership in international organisations such as Interpol.

The meeting reaffirmed both countries’ interest in strengthening relations and exploring new areas of cooperation.
