TIRANA, August 5 – Education Minister Mirela Kumbaro welcomed the provisional closure of Chapter 25 of Albania’s European Union accession negotiations, which covers science and research. She described the step as further evidence of the country’s progress toward EU membership.
Meanwhile, Kumbaro said the closure confirms Albania’s progress in aligning with the priorities of the European Research Area (ERA). She added that the country achieved this milestone by strengthening its legal framework and strategic documents.
In addition, the minister said Albania increased public investment in scientific research and research infrastructure. She also highlighted the development of the innovation ecosystem. Moreover, she pointed to stronger cooperation among universities, research institutions, the public sector and businesses.
Kumbaro credited the achievement to the work of the Education Ministry’s team. She said the accession negotiations continue to advance at a steady pace. She added that the latest result reflects Albania’s continued progress toward European Union membership.
