TIRANA, August 5 – Albania and Italy have established Fincantieri Albania, marking a new step in their strategic partnership and the development of Albania’s maritime industry. Officials signed the company’s founding act and statute at the Naval Vessels Division of Italy’s Fincantieri in Genoa.
Meanwhile, Defense Minister Ermal Nufi said the partnership represents a major investment in Albania’s naval industry. He added that it will support technology transfer, create new jobs and expand the country’s manufacturing capacity. He also said Albania continues to build long-term partnerships with leading international companies to strengthen the economy and national security.
Fincantieri Albania will manage the Vlora Bay naval base shipyard after its modernization. In addition, the company will oversee the construction of vessels up to 82 meters long and with a displacement of up to 700 tons. The ships will serve both the domestic and international markets.
The project aims to strengthen Albania’s shipbuilding sector and expand the country’s role in the regional maritime industry.
