Finance Ministry begins preparations for new Eurobond issue

TIRANA, August 6 – Albania’s Finance Ministry has started preliminary preparations for a new Eurobond issue planned for 2027 as the country’s macroeconomic indicators continue to show positive performance.

Deputy Finance Minister Endrit Yzeiraj said officials discussed recent macroeconomic developments, government borrowing plans in international capital markets and future cooperation with Austria’s Erste Group during a meeting with the financial institution.

Meanwhile, Yzeiraj said dialogue with international financial partners helps present Albania’s economic performance and strengthen investor confidence ahead of the planned Eurobond issue.

Albania’s economy grew by 3.7% in the first quarter of 2026. Average inflation stood at 2.7% during the first half of the year and remained close to the central bank’s target. Unemployment fell to 8.4%, while budget revenues and economic activity continued to improve.

The ministry plans to return to international capital markets to secure financing under favorable conditions and support sustainable public debt management. It also considers the Eurobond a strategic instrument that strengthens Albania’s presence in global financial markets and reflects investor confidence in the country’s economy and public finances.

Albania issued its latest Eurobond on February 11, 2025. The government raised €650 million through a 10-year bond with a 4.75% coupon and a 5% yield. The bond will mature in February 2035.
