TIRANA, August 10 – Albania’s Defence Ministry reported 8 wildfires across the counties of Tirana, Fier, Durrës and Lezha. Six remain active, while authorities have brought 2 under control or placed them under monitoring.
A total of 227 personnel are working on the ground. Authorities have also requested 50 additional military personnel for the Boja neighbourhood in Kruja. Firefighting vehicles, 3 helicopters, an Air Tractor aircraft and an Armed Forces aircraft are also supporting the operations.
In Tirana County, crews continue to monitor several fires near the Selita water plant in Mount Dajt. The Cikallesh fire in Kavaja is weakening and approaching full containment. Crews are also working to control smaller fires in Priska e Madhe. Authorities report no threat to populated areas.
Meanwhile, crews continue containment efforts in the Panahor–Ndrenie–Vlosht area of Mallakastër, Fier Municipality. Authorities have controlled the fire in Panahor and isolated the Koilaç–Greshica fire.
In Durrës Municipality, the situation in Abaze, Kruja, has stabilised. Only small areas of embers and smoke remain. Authorities have requested 50 military personnel for Boja area, due to difficult terrain and the lack of road access hamper operations.
In Lezha Municipality, the Vilëz fire in Kurbin remains active in a forested area. Fifty local, firefighting, police and volunteer personnel are working there. Two helicopters have slowed the fire’s advance and protected a church, cemetery and nearby homes.
The National Civil Protection Agency continues to monitor all active fires and coordinate additional support nationwide.
