TIRANA, August 10 – Interior Minister Besfort Lamallari and State Police Director General Skënder Hita thanked around 300 police officers, firefighters and Armed Forces personnel involved in the Kruja wildfire operation.

Lamallari praised their work in evacuating residents and managing the fire, which strong winds intensified. He said special forces, rapid-response units, police water tankers and other emergency teams supported the operation.

The minister also highlighted how police officers communicated with residents who refused to leave their homes because they feared for their property. He said the operation demonstrated the importance of professionalism and empathy during critical situations.

Meanwhile, Hita praised the teams for working in difficult terrain and weather conditions. He said the operation ended without loss of life or damage to homes. The flames also did not spread into the city’s populated areas.

Hita credited the result to the determination and commitment of the teams. He also thanked firefighters and Civil Protection personnel for their contribution to containing the fire.

Lamallari said the personnel deserved the full support of the Interior Ministry, the Albanian government and citizens. He also praised their courage and professionalism during the evacuation and firefighting efforts.

The Kruja operation continues with monitoring and measures to prevent the wildfire from reigniting.
