TIRANA, August 13 – President Bajram Begaj urged citizens to remain cautious as high temperatures increase the risk of fires. He also expressed solidarity with firefighters and others fighting the flames.
Begaj said firefighters, Armed Forces personnel and others fighting fires deserve public gratitude. He praised their courage and sacrifice in protecting lives, families, homes and property. The President also called for legal action against those who deliberately set fires.
Begaj urged citizens to follow authorities’ instructions and avoid putting lives at risk. He said everyone must help protect communities, property and nature. The President said Albania needs solidarity and responsibility from everyone.
Meanwhile, the latest update from the Ministry of Defence said 10 fires remained active over the previous 11 hours.
A total of 531 operational personnel and 29 vehicles are involved in firefighting operations. The force includes 104 firefighters, 250 Armed Forces personnel, 120 municipal, protected-area and forestry service personnel, 20 State Police officers and 31 volunteers.
From the air, 5 Air Force helicopters and 2 Air Tractor aircraft are supporting the operations.
