Wildfire in Mount Tërbun forests, 40 Armed Forces personnel deployed

TIRANA, August 18 – Authorities continue to monitor a wildfire in the Fushë-Laja area of Puka Municipality, in the forests of Mount Tërbun. The Puka Fire Protection and Rescue Service and forestry service have worked at the site for several days. Local service employees, residents, volunteers and personnel from the Fushë-Arrëz Fire Protection and Rescue Service have also joined the response.

Meanwhile, difficult mountain terrain, high temperatures and strong winds have complicated the operation. The Armed Forces have deployed 40 personnel to support the teams on the ground. The Prefecture of Shkodër coordinates the response with the National Civil Protection Agency and the technical operation commander.

Earlier on August 18, 2 helicopters also began aerial operations. The teams continue efforts to contain and extinguish the fire completely. Authorities are maintaining continuous monitoring of the situation and have mobilized all available operational resources.
