TIRANA, August 18 – British newspaper The Sun has highlighted Albania as one of Europe’s fastest-growing holiday destinations. The article cites Thomas Cook data showing a 293% increase in bookings for Albania compared with a year earlier.
The Sun points to Albania’s beaches, affordable summer holidays and capital Tirana. It also notes that British travellers can take direct summer flights from London, Birmingham, Manchester, Edinburgh and Liverpool.
According to The Sun, Tirana offers visitors attractions including Skanderbeg Square and the Pyramid of Tirana. The article also highlights the city’s relatively low tourist crowds and affordable prices.
Meanwhile, the publication recommends Ksamil, known as the “Maldives of Europe”, for its beaches and clear waters. It also highlights the historic cities of Berat and Gjirokastër, both UNESCO-listed, as well as Durrës and Golem on the Adriatic coast.
The Sun also notes the recent visit of members of the cast of The Only Way Is Essex to Dhërmi, where they filmed the latest season of the reality show.
