Berat police have introduced measures to protect public safety during the Mount Tomorr pilgrimage, which runs from August 18 to 25, 2026.
The measures aim to prevent road accidents, ease traffic and maintain public order.
Police have deployed additional officers along roads leading to Mount Tomorr and around the Kulmak Tekke. They are working with the Fier Rapid Intervention Force, the Road Safety Operational Unit, local authorities, emergency services, Berat Regional Hospital and the World Headquarters of the Bektashi Community.
Drivers heading to the Kulmak Tekke must follow this route:
“Berat city entrance – Kombinat Roundabout – City Ring Road – Uznovë Roundabout – Plirëz Junction – Kulmak Tekke.”
Authorities have designated two routes for the return journey. Drivers can pass through Bargullaz and Pronovik, or through Novaj and Bogovë. Both routes lead toward Poliçan, Uznovë and the “Antipatrea” road.
Drivers and pilgrims arriving from Çorovodë should use the Çorovodë–Gjerbës–Kulmak Tekke route in both directions.
Police will ban heavy vehicles from several roads between 6:00 a.m. and midnight throughout the pilgrimage. The restrictions cover the Vlashuk–Kuçovë–Berat, Kuç Bridge–Dimal–Berat, Berat–Mount Tomorr and Berat–Çorovodë routes.
Buses, vans carrying more than eight passengers and minibuses will also face restrictions on the Plirëz–Kulmak Tekke–Mount Tomorr road.
Police urge all drivers and pilgrims to follow the designated routes, road signs and officers’ instructions throughout the pilgrimage.
