TIRANA, August 20 – Albanian football faces an important European night as Egnatia and Dinamo play their opening play-off matches. Egnatia, the Albanian champion, will face Norway’s Lillestrøm in the Europa League play-offs. The match starts at 19:00, with the Rrogozhina club holding home advantage.
Egnatia coach and former Albania international Nevil Dede has already secured a place in the Conference League league phase. However, his team now aims to take the final step towards the Europa League.
Later, at 21:00, Albanian Cup winners Dinamo will host Cyprus’ Pafos in Tirana. Dinamo coach and experienced Albanian football manager Ilir Daja has guided the team past Aluminij and Auda. The club now stands two matches away from securing a place in the Conference League league phase.
Meanwhile, Daja has previous European experience. He led Albanian club Skënderbeu and Kosova’s Ballkani to the group stage of European competitions. Pafos represents the final obstacle in Dinamo’s European campaign.
