Residents of Prrenjas have once again taken to the streets to protest against the new administrative-territorial reform, which proposes the dissolution of 15 municipalities, including the Municipality of Prrenjas. They are demanding that Prrenjas retain its status as a municipality, arguing that the merger would affect citizens’ representation, the provision of public services and the preservation of the area’s identity. Residents have also established the “Alliance for the Protection of the Territory” to oppose the reform.
Concerns were also raised during the protest about preserving the area’s traditions and cultural identity, particularly in the event of a merger with Librazhd.
As residents continue their protests in the streets, they are now also appealing to their political representatives, as the final decision on the reform is expected to be taken by Parliament.
