10 active wildfires, 2 under monitoring as operations continue

TIRANA, August 21 – The Ministry of Defence reported 16 wildfires by 14:00. Ten remained active and two were under monitoring. The ministry said 240 military personnel, 3 firefighting vehicles, 4 helicopters and 2 Air Tractor aircraft supported the operations.

In Gojan–Gjegjan, Puka, the situation remains calm and authorities report no risk to homes. Firefighters, forestry workers, municipal forces and volunteers continue operations, supported by 40 Armed Forces personnel, a firefighting vehicle and 2 helicopters.

Meanwhile, operations continue in Dukat, Vlora, where the fire expanded towards the mountain overnight. Authorities report no risk to homes. Firefighters, forestry workers and Orikum administrative unit forces are working on the ground, supported by 40 Armed Forces personnel and 2 Air Tractor aircraft.

In Mal-Milot, Kurbin, crews are fighting a forest fire in a pine area. No homes face danger. At the same time, teams continue efforts to isolate remaining fires in Mount Dajti, Tirana. Part of the area has been fully secured, with no threat to residential zones.

Elsewhere, local and operational structures continue firefighting and monitoring. The National Civil Protection Agency is coordinating the response with prefectures, municipalities and civil protection structures across the country.
