TIRANA, August 24 – Albanian internationals enjoyed another positive week in overseas leagues, with Jasir Asani, Cristian Shpendi and Etnik Brruti scoring, while Ernest Muçi and Stavro Pilo provided assists.
In Turkey, Muçi returned to the starting lineup after recovering from injury. The Albania forward assisted Mohamed Salah for Trabzonspor’s second goal in a 2-1 win over Başakşehir.
Meanwhile, Shpendi scored for Cesena against Sampdoria in Italy. He put his side ahead in the 17th minute, but Sampdoria later equalised for a 1-1 draw. In Iran, Asani scored Esteghlal’s opening goal in a 2-0 win over Sepahan. He struck in the fourth minute with a left-footed effort from outside the box.
In Greece, Pilo assisted Luka Jović for AEK Athens’ second goal in a 4-0 win over Iraklis 1908. In Croatia, Brruti scored in the ninth minute as Hajduk Split beat Osijek 4-0. The Albania Under-21 midfielder started the match and gave his team an early lead.
Other Albania internationals also featured for their clubs this week. Thomas Strakosha, Berat Gjimshiti, Ardian Ismajli, Klisman Cake, Ylber Ramadani, Juljan Shehu, Qazim Laçi, Adrion Pajaziti, Arbër Hoxha, Taulant Seferi, Armando Broja and Myrto Uzuni continued their campaigns abroad.
