The Tirana Traffic Police announced that it issued 11,420 administrative fines over the past week as part of checks aimed at preventing road accidents and managing traffic on major roads, as well as at the entry and exit points of the capital.
During the inspections, 55 people were arrested or subject to legal proceedings for various violations of the Road Code, while 71 vehicles were removed by tow truck.
The checks focused on violations that pose a risk to road safety, including driving under the influence of alcohol, speeding, using a mobile phone while driving, and improper maneuvers.
According to the Traffic Police, the following fines were issued during this period:
- 36 for driving under the influence of alcohol;
- 750 for exceeding the permitted speed limit;
- 56 for failure to adjust speed appropriately and for improper maneuvers in residential areas;
- 309 for using a mobile phone while driving;
- 353 for failure to wear a seat belt;
- 127 for illegally tinted windows;
- 98 for incomplete or improper documentation;
- 411 for failure to give way to pedestrians;
- 1,369 for failure to wear a protective helmet or reflective vest;
- 707 for improper overtaking;
- 256 for motorcycles and other motorized two-wheelers using bicycle lanes.
The Tirana Traffic Police appealed to drivers and all road users to comply with traffic regulations in order to improve road safety, prevent accidents, and ensure smoother, unobstructed traffic flow.
