TIRANA, August 26 – AROYA, a major cruise ship operated by Saudi Arabia-based AROYA Cruises, is scheduled to make a stop in Saranda on July 20, 2027, Tourism, Culture and Sports Minister Blendi Gonxhja said.
Gonxhja announced the planned stop after meeting Albanian cruise-industry executive Altin Alija in Taranto, Italy. Alija, originally from Librazhd, has more than 25 years of experience in the international cruise industry. He currently leads hotel operations at AROYA Cruises and Cruise Saudi.
The meeting also focused on the 2026 Mediterranean Games, which are being held in Italy. Gonxhja said AROYA is currently providing accommodation for athletes and teams participating in the Games.
Meanwhile, the two discussed cruise accommodation, developments in the tourism sector and opportunities for Albania to benefit from the international cruise industry.
Gonxhja said AROYA is expected to arrive in Saranda on July 20, 2027, as a scheduled stop on its itinerary. The visit would bring the large cruise ship to Albania’s southern coastal city as part of its international route.
