TIRANA, August 26 – Albania has reported 34 wildfires over the past 24 hours. Five remain active and four are under monitoring, according to the Ministry of Defence.
A total of 219 operational personnel and 35 firefighting vehicles have joined the response. The Armed Forces have deployed 60 personnel, one helicopter and two Air Tractor aircraft.
The main focus remains on Mount Dajti near Tirana. Fires remain active on both sides of the ridge after several flare-ups. The operation continues with an additional 50 Armed Forces personnel. Firefighters and environmental protection teams are also involved. No residential areas face a fire threat.
Meanwhile, two fires remain active in Dibra Municipality. One is in Ballenjë–Kostenjë, where six personnel are working. The other is in Qafë e Helmës, Bulqiza, where teams continue to monitor the situation. Neither fire threatens populated areas.
In Elbasan County, fires remain active on Mount Dardha in Librazhd and Mount Qukës in Prrenjas. Both areas have reported flare-ups, while local firefighting teams remain deployed.
The situation has improved in Puka. Authorities report no active fires in Gjegjan, Gojan i Vogël, Gojan i Madh, Prozhëm and Tërbun. Teams continue to monitor those areas.
The National Civil Protection Agency continues to coordinate the response nationwide. Operational teams remain on standby, with priority given to protecting lives, homes and property.
