TIRANA, August 28 – Health and Social Welfare Minister Evis Sala ranks among the top 10 names on OncoDaily’s “100 Women of Impact in Oncology 2026” list. The international initiative recognizes women making significant contributions to cancer care and treatment worldwide.
OncoDaily has run the initiative since 2023. The organization uses Women’s Equality Day in the United States on August 26 to launch its annual selection of 100 women who have made notable contributions to oncology.
For 2026, OncoDaily recognizes Sala for her role in developing national cancer policies and reforms in Albania. The organization says her work at the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare has placed oncology at the center of health reform.
Meanwhile, the assessment highlights the creation of a National Oncology Institute and Cancer Network, standardized treatment protocols and expanded regional chemotherapy and radiotherapy capacity. In addition, it cites increased funding for cancer medicines, stronger cervical cancer screening and expanded HPV prevention programs.
