Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić said during a visit to Osečina that he does not trust the justice system in The Hague and that Serbia has still not received official information from The Hague regarding the death of Ratko Mladić.
Vučić stressed that, in his view, Western countries want to create the impression that Serbs are to blame for everything, while warning that Serbia is facing a difficult period ahead.
“Difficult days lie ahead of us. All those who took part in crimes against Serbs have always been acquitted. Those who took part in persecution were also acquitted. Ante Gotovina and Naser Orić were acquitted. And it does not end there. As I understand it, the verdict in Thaçi’s case is scheduled for September 16, and it will be such that the time he has spent in detention will be taken into account and, essentially, he will be released. The West wants to tell us: ‘Serbs are to blame for everything,’” Vučić said, according to “Informer.”
Speaking about Ratko Mladić, Vučić said that the place where the former Bosnian Serb military commander will be buried will depend solely on the wishes of his family.
The Serbian President also warned that, in his view, the current campaign against Serbia is not only about Mladić, but also about future legal consequences and further pressure on the Republic of Serbia.
In this context, he again referred to the expected verdict in the case of Hashim Thaçi, which is expected to be announced on September 16.
“This campaign is about the future and further pressure on Serbia. Look at what a coincidence this is, because they like symbols: September 15 is our national holiday, Serbian Unity Day, while the verdict has been scheduled for the 16th. I know very well, and I would very much like to be wrong: there will be some form of conviction, but not for the tragedy and the Serbian victims,” Vučić concluded.
