TIRANA, August 28 – Interior Minister Besfort Lamallari and State Police Director General Skënder Hita met with local police and Border Police officials to discuss service standards and public trust. Lamallari called for professional, ethical and lawful service at every level.
The minister said citizens build their trust in the police through daily interactions. He stressed that officers must respond professionally and promptly to complaints, concerns and requests for information.
Lamallari also said police ethics should not represent an exceptional standard. He described ethical conduct as the minimum requirement for every officer’s behaviour and communication. Citizens, he added, expect and deserve quality service that respects the law.
Meanwhile, the minister asked local police leaders to make these standards part of their daily work. He called for quick and fair responses to citizens and greater attention to communication with the public.
Lamallari said every contact between citizens and the police can strengthen public confidence in the institution. He identified stronger relations with communities, greater professionalism and strict respect for the law as key elements of a more trusted and accountable police service.
