TIRANA, August 31 – President Bajram Begaj received the new Dutch ambassador to Albania, Marleen Monster, on Monday. The ambassador presented her credentials during the meeting.
Begaj reaffirmed Albania’s commitment to stronger relations with the Netherlands. He described the country as an important European partner and a trusted NATO ally.
The two sides highlighted strong political and economic relations. Begaj also thanked the Netherlands for its support over the years in defence, law enforcement, the rule of law, democratic institutions, civil society and the media.
Meanwhile, the meeting placed particular emphasis on Albania’s European Union integration process. Begaj conveyed Albania’s appreciation for Dutch support for EU membership. He also welcomed Dutch expertise in helping Albania pursue its goal of joining the European Union by 2030.
The president wished Ambassador Monster success during her term. He also expressed the readiness of Albanian institutions to support cooperation between the two countries.
