Wildfires Across the Country / Defense Ministry: Five Active Fires, Most Challenging Situation in Dibër

The Ministry of Defense has provided an update on the wildfire situation across the country.

According to the official statement, which includes complete data as of August 31 at 2:00 p.m., a total of 10 wildfires have been reported across the country.

Of these, five remain active, four are under surveillance, while one has been completely extinguished.

The most challenging situation is in Dibër County, where fires remain active in Vajkal, Lundre, Ballenjë, and along the Bershi–Kurdari–Patinë area.

In Lundre, due to strong winds and the extensive forested area, 20 military personnel and one Air Force helicopter have also been deployed. At present, there is no risk to residential areas.

In Vajkal, 20 firefighting personnel and 20 Armed Forces members have been deployed, while in Ballenjë the fire continues to burn across a forested area within a protected zone.

In Dajt, toward Qafë-Priskë, firefighting operations are continuing, involving 15 firefighters, nine personnel from the National Agency of Protected Areas, and 20 Armed Forces members. There is no risk to residential areas.

In Korça, the fire in Qafa e Lugut is under control.

In Elbasan, the fire on Mount Dardha has been completely extinguished, while the situation on Mount Qukës continues to be monitored.

A total of 70 military personnel and one Air Force helicopter have also been deployed in support of the operations. The situation continues to be monitored, and according to the latest report, no residential areas are currently at risk.
