TIRANA, September 1 – Foreign Minister Ferit Hoxha attended the European Forum Alpbach in Austria at the invitation of Austrian Foreign Minister Beate Meinl-Reisinger. He joined a panel on Europe’s ability to mobilize its strength and act in a rapidly changing world.
Speaking at the forum, Hoxha said Albania’s present and future remain closely linked to Europe as the country advances towards European Union membership. He described Europe’s challenges as Albania’s own and said decisions taken today will shape the Europe Albania aspires to join tomorrow.
At the same time, the minister stressed that Albania already contributes to Europe’s security and stability. He pointed to the country’s alignment with the European Union’s foreign and security policy, including the adoption of European Union sanctions and participation in European Union-led missions and operations. He also highlighted Albania’s active role in NATO and its commitment to the values, principles and responsibilities underpinning the European project.
Looking ahead, Hoxha said Albania’s ambition goes beyond simply being ready for Europe. He said the European Union should become more capable of acting, faster when necessary, stronger when challenged and more united when it matters most. Albania, he added, wants to play a greater role in addressing shared challenges and helping shape the Europe of tomorrow.
