TIRANA, September 1 – Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Ferit Hoxha met his Slovenian counterpart Tone Kajzer in Bled, Slovenia. The meeting took place during the Bled Strategic Forum 2026.
The ministers discussed Albania’s European Union membership process, Europe’s future and the strategic importance of the Western Balkans. They also discussed ways to strengthen economic ties and people-to-people contacts. Hoxha said these links should match the strong political dialogue between the 2 countries.
Both sides agreed that European Union enlargement should remain a merit-based process. Hoxha said reforms, results and mutual trust should underpin that process. He also described enlargement as an increasingly important geopolitical priority and an investment in a stronger, safer and more stable Europe.
Meanwhile, Hoxha reaffirmed Albania’s commitment to maintaining the pace of reforms and meeting its obligations. He said the country aims to advance firmly towards completing its European Union accession negotiations within this decade.
