TIRANA, September 1 – Albania plans to increase funding for reimbursed medicines by 28% in 2027. The fund will reach 17.28 billion ALL, up from 13.5 billion ALL in 2026.
The 2027–2029 Medium-Term Budget Programme projects an expansion of the reimbursed medicines list by 20 items. The list will grow from 1,356 to 1,376 medicines in 2027. Authorities plan to expand it further to 1,406 medicines by 2029.
Meanwhile, the scheme will continue to support around 400,000 patients each year during 2027–2029.
Average budget funding per patient will also increase. The figure will rise from around 33,750 ALL in 2026 to 43,200 ALL in 2027.
