TIRANA, September 1 – The number of public beach areas increased by 67% across Albania this tourist season. Tourism, Culture and Sports Minister Blendi Gonxhja announced the increase in a social media post.
The total area of public beach stations also grew by more than 10%. Gonxhja said the expansion aims to give residents and tourists greater access to public beaches. It also offers more affordable options and reduces the space occupied by private beach stations.
Meanwhile, municipalities can now offer umbrellas and sun loungers at public beaches, while local councils set the fees for these services.
Gonxhja highlighted Saranda as one of the municipalities where the public beach management model has produced concrete results. He said the work would continue.
