Minister of Internal Affairs Besfort Lamallari has signed an order revising the age limit for admission to the State Police, expanding opportunities for young people, experienced professionals, and employees coming from other security institutions.
The decision comes in response to numerous requests addressed to the minister through social media and direct communications from citizens wishing to join the State Police and contribute to the security of the country and its citizens.
Under the order, the age limit for admission to the Police has been revised to 35 for candidates who have completed upper secondary education and wish to serve in operational roles, including the General Patrol, after completing the Basic College program.
Candidates seeking to join the Police in an entry-level leadership position with the rank of Sub-Commissioner may also pursue Bachelor’s studies at the Security Academy up to the age of 35.
New opportunities have also been created for professionals with higher education qualifications. Individuals who have completed a second cycle of higher education in relevant fields, such as economics, finance, information technology and others, may be admitted to an entry-level leadership position up to the age of 40, after completing the specialized course for Sub-Commissioners.
Meanwhile, employees coming from other security institutions will not be subject to an age limit, provided they meet the established criteria and successfully complete the relevant admission procedures.
The Interior Minister described the decision as a step toward creating more equal opportunities to join the State Police, taking into account not only age but also candidates’ level of education, qualifications and professional experience.
“This is a fair decision that provides equal opportunities based on each individual’s commitment and experience, without penalizing candidates through rigid criteria applied uniformly to people with different educational and professional backgrounds,” the minister said.
“A vocation for security, the renewal of the police organization and its strengthening by building on previous experience with new recruits guide our mission for a more professional, stronger police force that is closer to citizens,” Lamallari said.
