Special Prosecution Office (SPAK) strengthens international cooperation against transnational organised crime

TIRANA, September 2 – The US Department of Justice Criminal Division and the Office of Overseas Prosecutorial Development, Assistance and Training have placed Albania’s Special Prosecution Office at the centre of global efforts against transnational organised crime.

In Buenos Aires, SPAK head Klodjan Braho took part in IDEC40, a major global forum organised by the US Drug Enforcement Administration. The forum focuses on operational integration, coordination and avoiding overlaps in efforts against transnational criminal organisations, including foreign terrorist organisations designated by the United States.

Following IDEC40, SPAK prosecutors held 12 high-level meetings with counterparts from the United States, Colombia, Ecuador, Ukraine, Paraguay and Argentina. The meetings focused on strengthening relations and operational coordination to identify and combat transnational threats across Europe, Latin America and the United States.

SPAK said it remains committed to strengthening cooperation with international partners in the fight against transnational organised crime wherever it operates.
