TIRANA, September 2 – Albania produced around 183,000 tonnes of grapes in 2025, according to the Agricultural Development and Rural Development Agency. Grape production continues to grow alongside vineyard expansion and new investment in technology and processing capacity.
Fier, Elbasan, Berat and Vlora have some of the country’s largest vineyard areas. Together, they account for more than 60% of the main grape-producing areas.
Farmers are also investing in new cultivation methods, including greenhouse production. The aim is to increase yields, improve quality and extend the production period.
Meanwhile, the agency continues to support farmers through the National Scheme. Funding covers new vineyards, irrigation systems, agricultural machinery, hail protection nets and processing lines.
Investment in processing aims to create greater added value rather than leaving grapes solely as a fresh product. Better processing, packaging and standards could also help Albanian agricultural products reach new foreign markets.
The agency said public support aims to lower production costs, raise productivity and improve farmers’ incomes. It also sees viticulture as a sector with potential for rural economic development, particularly in areas with a strong tradition of grape production.
