TIRANA, September 2 – Defence Minister Ermal Nufi visited Albania’s Civil Emergency Support Base as the structure marked the 39th anniversary of its establishment.
Nufi praised the base’s role during the difficult wildfire season. From April through August 2026, the base carried out 54 firefighting operations, deploying more than 1,500 personnel and over 180 vehicles.
The minister thanked the personnel who worked on the front lines during the summer fires. He said the base remains the operational backbone of Albania’s response to civil emergencies and natural disasters.
The Civil Emergency Support Base operates under the Support Command of the Ministry of Defence. It provides personnel, logistical resources and operational capacities for emergency response across the country.
