TIRANA, September 3 – The Agency for Media and Information announced Klodiana Spahiu’s proposed appointment as Minister of Health and Social Welfare.
Spahiu graduated from the University of Tirana’s Faculty of Medicine in 1997 with a degree in General Medicine. From 1998 to 2002, she specialised in cardiology at the “Mother Teresa” University Hospital Centre in Tirana.
She later completed additional training in non-invasive cardiology, including echocardiography, PU-ECG and carotid Doppler ultrasound, at the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Rome, Italy. In 2003-2004, she completed postgraduate studies at the Faculty of Medicine’s Department of Preclinical Subjects.
In 2005, Spahiu specialised in invasive cardiology, including cardiac catheterisation and coronary angiography, at Santa Chiara Hospital in Pisa, Italy. From 2012 to 2014, she completed a professional master’s degree in health management.
Spahiu worked as a cardiologist at the first cardiology clinic of the University Hospital Centre in Tirana. From 2003 to 2009, she also worked at Durrës Hospital, where she later served as director.
Her academic work includes teaching positions at the University of Tirana and other institutions. Since 2008, she has taught cardiology practice at “Our Lady of Good Counsel” University in Tirana. She holds a Doctor of Medical Sciences degree.
