TIRANA, September 4 – The risk of wildfires will be high across most of Albania this afternoon and tomorrow, according to the Geosciences Institute.
The institute forecasts high risk in Shkodër, Dibër, Lezha, Durrës, Tirana, Elbasan, Fier, Berat, Vlora and Gjirokastër regions. Meanwhile, Kukës and Korca will face moderate overall risk, although some areas could see higher danger.
The highest-risk areas in these two counties include northeastern Kukës and southern Korca. The institute expects the overall wildfire risk to peak on Saturday, September 5.
No rainfall is expected across Albania this afternoon or tomorrow. Maximum temperatures on Saturday will reach 33 C along the coast, 36 C in lowland areas and 34 C in mountainous areas. Minimum temperatures will range from 21 C along the coast to 18 C in lowlands and 12 C in the mountains.
Winds will remain light to moderate. They may strengthen at times along the coast and in mountainous areas.
