Grila on Lake Shkodra shores attracts tourists seeking nature and scenic landscapes

TIRANA, September 4 – Grila, on the shores of Lake Shkodra in Malesia e Madhe, has become a popular destination for visitors seeking nature, tranquillity and scenic landscapes.

Prime Minister Edi Rama shared photos showing visitors enjoying picnics and outdoor sports by the lake. They are also spending their holidays at the beach, taking part in water sports and relaxing in the sun.

For years, the area has welcomed tourists from around the world. Visitors are drawn by the lake’s natural beauty, local hospitality and the authentic atmosphere.

Lake Shkodra is a UNESCO-designated Transboundary Biosphere Reserve and part of the World Network of Biosphere Reserves. It offers opportunities for water sports, hiking, birdwatching and other outdoor activities throughout the year.

The lake is the largest in the Balkan Peninsula and lies on the border between Albania and Montenegro. Its ecosystem supports rich biodiversity, with diverse flora and fauna. The lake reaches a depth of around 45 metres, while the city of Shkodra lies on its southeastern shore.
