TIRANA, September 4 – Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Ferit Hoxha took part in an informal meeting of European affairs ministers in Dublin, organised by Ireland’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
During a session on EU enlargement, reform support and administrative capacity, Hoxha presented Albania’s experience with the accession negotiations. He stressed the need to maintain the pace of reforms and momentum in the negotiations, saying political will remains essential for the process.
At the same time, Hoxha acknowledged that Albania still needs to make further progress in several areas. He highlighted the rule of law, waste and water management, air quality, environmental infrastructure and food safety. He said these challenges require strong coordination, long-term commitment and significant investment.
Against this background, Hoxha called for closer practical links between Albanian experts and EU institutions. He said stronger cooperation would help Albania build administrative capacity and gain a better understanding of how EU institutions operate.
With Albania now entering a decisive stage on its path to EU membership, Hoxha said the country would continue to deliver results. He added that Albania expects the European Union to maintain the same level of commitment.
