TIRANA, September 4 – Import prices fell by 0.1% in the second quarter of 2026 compared with the same period a year earlier, according to the Institute of Statistics.
The decline reflected lower prices for electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning, which fell by 2.2%. Extractive industry prices dropped by 0.2%, while manufacturing prices decreased by 0.02%.
Meanwhile, the Producer Price Index reached 129.9 in the second quarter, up 0.1% from the same period in 2025.
Manufacturing and water supply, waste treatment and waste management recorded the highest annual increases, at 0.4% each. Within manufacturing, rubber and plastic products and food processing recorded the largest increases, at 1.5% each.
In contrast, metallurgy and electrical equipment manufacturing recorded the largest price declines, at 0.7% each. Electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning prices fell by 0.6%, while extractive industry prices dropped by 0.2%.
