Deputy Prime Minister Albana Koçiu said today that Albania’s decision to double startup funding has increased the number of beneficiaries to 163, including young entrepreneurs from the country and the diaspora.
In a video message, Koçiu described the initiative as a fulfilled commitment to supporting startups in Albania.
The government increased startup funding from 300 million to 600 million lek. As a result, the program now supports 163 new ideas, including 26 talents from the Albanian diaspora who have chosen to build their future in Albania.
“16.5 million euros. This is not simply a figure, but a fulfilled commitment to supporting startups in Albania. It creates a real opportunity for our young people to build their future in their own country and turn bold ideas into businesses that create jobs, grow the economy and become success stories,” Koçiu said.
Moreover, Koçiu said the government doubled the support fund this year, from 300 million to 600 million lek. The number of beneficiaries also increased significantly. While 81 beneficiaries received support in 2025, the program now finances 163 new ideas.
Meanwhile, she highlighted the growing role of “Startup Albania” in supporting young people from the diaspora.
“Twenty-six beneficiaries this year are Albanians from the diaspora who have chosen to see their future once again here, in their homeland. We do not build the future with words. Instead, we create opportunities together. Young people bring the ideas, energy and vision to make a European Albania a reality,” Koçiu said.
The initiative aims to encourage innovation, support young entrepreneurs and create new jobs. Furthermore, the government expects the increased funding to help more ideas develop into sustainable businesses and contribute to Albania’s economic growth.
