The new European Union Ambassador to Albania, Sofia Moreira de Sousa, has officially started her mission in Tirana. In a video message from the Albanian capital, Moreira de Sousa highlighted her commitment to supporting Albania’s European integration process.
“It is an honor to serve in Albania at such an important moment in the country’s journey toward the European Union,” she said.
“Together with my team at the EU Delegation, I am here to support every step that Albanians take toward EU integration,” the ambassador added.
Meanwhile, Moreira de Sousa said she will work closely with EU member states during her mandate. She will also cooperate with partners and other stakeholders to support Albania’s European ambitions.
“Over the next four years in this beautiful and welcoming country, you can count on my full commitment to building Albania’s European future together,” she said.
The new EU Ambassador also praised Albanian hospitality. She said she looks forward to travelling across the country and meeting its people.
“I have heard a lot about the hospitality of the Albanian people. I cannot wait to travel around the country and experience it myself,” she said.
Moreira de Sousa ended her message with a greeting in Albanian: “Mirupafshim!”
Through her new mandate, the ambassador aims to strengthen cooperation and support Albania’s continued progress toward EU membership.
