Egnatia makes a champion’s start, beats Skënderbeu 2-1

Egnatia continued its winning run in the Abissnet Superiore. The champions beat Skënderbeu 2-1 in Rrogozhinë on Friday. Skënderbeu created the first big chance in the 11th minute. However, Bismark missed a penalty after Dajsinani saved his shot.

Egnatia took the lead three minutes later. Albanese found the net in the 14th minute and put the hosts ahead.

Skënderbeu responded strongly. The Korçë side earned another penalty after a VAR review in the 34th minute. Nasr converted from the spot and made it 1-1.

Both teams continued to fight for the winning goal after the break. Egnatia pushed forward and looked for another penalty. Meanwhile, Skënderbeu created several dangerous attacks near Dajsinani’s goal.

Egnatia finally found the winner in the 84th minute. Albanese provided the assist for Loukili, who headed the ball into the net. VAR then checked the goal for a possible offside. However, officials confirmed the goal and Egnatia regained its lead.

Skënderbeu failed to respond in the final minutes. As a result, Egnatia secured all three points.

The victory gives Nevil Dede’s team its third consecutive league win. Egnatia also strengthens its position at the top of the standings and sends another strong message in its title defence.
