Director General, Senior Director Skender Hita has continued his meetings with local and border police structures as part of intensified measures to strengthen the rule of law across the country.
During meetings in Vlorë, Gjirokastër, Shkodër and Lezhë, Director Hita focused on the crime situation, particularly serious crimes, as well as the cultivation and trafficking of narcotics.
Hita called on the Criminal Police to make maximum efforts to gather intelligence and subsequently take action against individuals carrying firearms, bladed weapons, explosives and narcotics, as well as those involved in cultivating narcotic plants.
The Director stressed that the situation must change immediately, both with regard to serious crimes and cannabis cultivation.
“Proactive investigations must be carried out to identify and crack down on criminal groups, while investigative efforts must be intensified to solve previously committed crimes,” Hita said.
The Director also addressed road safety, which remains a concern. Despite the maximum efforts of the Traffic Police and the use of all available smart technology, a large number of violations continue to be detected every day, posing a risk of road accidents.
The Director General of the State Police also focused extensively on school safety, as the new school year begins in just a few days. He said the State Police must do everything possible to ensure students’ safety, not only in terms of physical security, but also food safety in cooperation with the National Food Authority (AKU), as well as cybersecurity and road safety, so that students feel protected and secure.
Communication ethics, compliance with the law and the continuous follow-up of citizens’ concerns were also among the topics discussed with police structures. Director Hita called for greater commitment from police station chiefs and regional police directors in these areas.
The Director also instructed police station chiefs and directors to meet with citizens who have concerns, answer their phone calls and provide solutions to issues that fall within the Police’s jurisdiction.
Meanwhile, during the meetings, Director Hita also called on the Border Police to maintain proper communication standards at border crossing points, wage an uncompromising fight against border crime, strengthen cooperation with their counterparts in combating cross-border illegal activities, and coordinate measures to prevent queues during periods of high traffic.
