The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, has been honored with the Key to the City of Mesquite, Texas, as part of his visit to the United States. The key was presented to Berisha by Mesquite Mayor Daniel Aleman Jr., according to the Democratic Party’s press office.
“During the ceremony, Aleman described the Key to the City as the highest civic honor that the municipality can bestow upon an individual. According to him, this recognition represents the respect, trust, and special relationship between the Mesquite community and Albanians.
The honor bestowed upon Berisha comes in recognition of his contribution to Albania’s political leadership and his commitment to strengthening relations and cooperation between Albania and the United States of America,” reads the statement distributed to the media by the Democratic Party.
Mesquite is a city on the outskirts of Dallas, with a population of 150,000 according to the 2020 census. Officially known as the “Rodeo Capital of Texas,” the city has also been recognized for its recreational areas and green spaces. Mesquite has its own airport and is an important economic hub, home to major companies and institutions such as UPS, AT&T, FedEx, Ashley Furniture, Charter Spectrum, and Eastfield College.
