Centuries-old building in Berat Castle to become guesthouse

A centuries-old building inside Berat Castle is being converted into a guesthouse with support from Albania’s Agriculture and Rural Development Agency. The project aims to give new economic value to cultural heritage while preserving the historic character of the area.

Prime Minister Edi Rama shared images of the family-run project. The guesthouse will soon welcome local and foreign visitors with 8 rooms. It stands next to the Onufri Iconographic Museum in the heart of Berat Castle.

Meanwhile, the project receives support through the 2025 National Investment Scheme under a contract with the Agriculture and Rural Development Agency. Egri Biçoku is leading the investment in the historic building.

Rama said projects like this can preserve cultural heritage while creating economic activity, jobs and opportunities for local communities.
