Agreement with European Academy of Law to Strengthen Public Procurement Capacity

The Centralized Purchasing Operator (OBP) and the European Academy of Law (ERA) have signed a cooperation agreement to strengthen the professional skills of public procurement officials and align Albanian practices with European Union standards.

OBP Director Jonaid Myzyri signed the agreement, which provides for ERA support in assessing the training and professional development needs of procurement staff.

The assessment will identify priority areas and guide future training programs. These programs will reflect developments in European legislation and practices.

Meanwhile, the two sides also discussed the digital transformation of public procurement. They focused on technological infrastructure and the use of artificial intelligence-based solutions in procurement procedures.

The parties also agreed to explore further areas of cooperation. They will organize training sessions in Trier, Tirana or online, depending on the needs identified.

According to OBP, the agreement aims to strengthen professionalism and improve the quality of procurement procedures. It will also further align Albanian practices with European standards as Albania advances its EU integration process.
