Albania plans to deploy up to 40 Armed Forces personnel to the International Stabilization Force mission in Gaza, subject to approval of a draft law. Deputy Defence Minister Enkelejd Joti presented the draft legislation to the Committee on Economy, Employment and Finance.
Joti said the mission aims to support security and stability in response to the situation in the Gaza Strip. He said the initiative follows a November 2025 authorization by the United Nations Security Council to establish the International Stabilization Force. Albania’s participation also reflects its commitments under the Board of Peace.
The Albanian personnel would support security and stability operations, protect mission staff and infrastructure, assist humanitarian operations, and monitor and report on the security situation. Joti said the mission forms part of Albania’s foreign and security policy and its international commitments to peace and security.
The draft law would establish the financial framework for Albania’s participation. The Council of Ministers would determine the costs case by case, while the Defence Ministry would cover them from its budget. Joti said the draft law complies with Albania’s Constitution and the international framework. The government proposes an expedited review of the legislation.
