Albania marks today the 84th anniversary of the Peza Conference, held on September 16, 1942, by representatives of Albanian antifascist forces seeking to establish a united front against the occupiers.
The conference adopted several important decisions, including the creation of the National Liberation Antifascist Front. The front brought together antifascists regardless of religion, region or political views.
Meanwhile, the participants called for the mobilization of the Albanian people against the fascist occupiers and the establishment of National Liberation Councils across the country.
The conference also aligned Albania with the Anglo-Soviet-American antifascist coalition. It further called for the creation of a free, independent and democratic Albania after the war.
Regarding the return of King Zog to Albania, the conference decided that the Albanian people would make the decision after the war.
The participants also addressed the Kosovo issue. They agreed that its future should be determined after the war based on the right to self-determination.
At the end of its proceedings, the Peza Conference elected the General National Liberation Council, headed by Kamber Qafëmolla.
