July brings record number of hotel visitors, up 15% from a year earlier

The summer tourist season has boosted activity at accommodation establishments in Albania, with around 817,000 visitors recorded in July alone. Data show that the number of visitors staying in hotels and other accommodation establishments increased by 15% compared with July of the previous year.

The vast majority of the increase came from foreign tourists. The number of non-resident visitors reached 622,700, compared with 526,300 a year earlier, an increase of 18.3%. Resident visitors grew at a more moderate rate of 6.4%, reaching 194,000.

The growth in tourism is reflected not only in the number of guests staying at accommodation establishments but also in overnight stays. In July, the number of overnight stays increased by 14% compared with the same period last year. For foreign visitors, the increase was 17%, while for residents it was 4.4%.

Another important indicator for the hotel industry is the room occupancy rate. In July 2026, it reached 55%, up from 53% in July last year, an increase of 2.4 percentage points. This indicates higher use of hotel capacity at the peak of the tourist season.

Kosovo continues to be the main country of origin for foreign visitors using accommodation establishments in Albania. In July, tourists from Kosovo accounted for 18% of foreign visitors, followed by Italy at 13% and Poland at 11%. France accounted for 7% and Germany for 6%, while 45% of visitors came from other countries.
