Interior Minister Ervin Demo held a meeting with the leadership and personnel of the Tirana Fire Service, thanking them for their commitment during the fire season and for their response to various emergency situations.
During the meeting, Demo said that preparations for the next season should begin now, stressing that the focus should not only be on emergency response, but also on fire prevention through closer cooperation with municipalities and Civil Protection structures.
“We have had fires in various municipalities across the country, where you have taken part and fought alongside your colleagues, protecting those communities and safeguarding public and private property.
I am very pleased that in our capital, this service is being strengthened day by day, month by month and year by year, not simply by increasing staff numbers, but also by improving professional capabilities and logistical support. We need to do much more to minimize the cases where firefighters need to intervene. This has to do with the management of forests, pastures and all the other measures that we need to take,” the minister said.
