ABI Bank Consolidates Growth in First Half of 2026

Rapid branch network expansion, high liquidity and stronger capital demonstrate the Bank’s sustainable development

The American Bank of Investments (ABI Bank) closed the first half of 2026 with a sound financial position and indicators demonstrating stability, strong financing capacity and growing confidence in the Albanian market.

ABI Bank is continuing to expand its physical presence across the country, as well as transforming NOA branches into NOA/ABI branches to offer a broader range of banking services. Together with NOA, the branch network reached 59 locations, comprising 34 standalone ABI branches and 25 consolidated NOA/ABI branches and agencies. During the first half of the year, the network expanded with three new branches in Tirana and one new branch in Fier.

With the fastest pace of branch network expansion in the banking market, the Bank is moving closer to its customers and increasing access to its products and services.

The opening of new branches is part of ABI Bank’s strategy to combine the development of modern banking services with direct communication and advisory support. The expansion of the network aims to better address the financial needs of individuals and businesses by providing personalized service and fostering closer relationships with customers.

“The results of the first half of the year confirm the resilience of our business model and the successful integration of NOA Sh.a. into the Bank’s structure. This makes us the bank with the fastest-expanding branch network. Operating income increased significantly compared with the same period last year, while our capital base strengthened further, positioning us well to continue sustainable growth and fulfil our commitments to our customers, employees and shareholders,” said Igli Sulaj, Chief Business Officer at ABI Bank.

Summary of Financial Results

During the first half of 2026, customer deposits increased by 8.6%, marking the highest growth rate in the sector, while gross loans increased by 4%. Total assets remained broadly stable.

In June 2026, the Bank’s capital adequacy ratio stood at 21.7%, positioning ABI Bank among the well-capitalized banks in Albania.

Net operating income reached ALL 3.7 billion, reflecting the solid performance of the Bank’s core banking operations.

Asset quality also remained strong, with the non-performing loan ratio at 2.5%, while the Bank maintained high liquidity, reflected in a low loan-to-deposit ratio.

The Bank’s customer base reached approximately 123,000 customers, representing an increase of more than 20% compared with the end of 2025, driven both by the integration of NOA and the continued growth of ABI Bank’s standalone operations.

ABI Bank enters the second half of 2026 with strong foundations for continued development. Profitability is expected to remain stable, with capital and liquidity indicators well above regulatory requirements. ABI will continue to focus on prudent lending, maintaining strong portfolio quality, introducing new products, diversifying funding sources and delivering sustainable returns.
